RAW FOOTAGE vs FOMO Edit Which one is better?

Let’s start by saying there is no better, just different.

Here we’ll talk about the benefits of each so you can choose according to your needs

Learn the difference between wedding RAW footage and FOMO edit (Behind the Scenes) or Doc Edits

Let’s start by asking;

What does RAW Footage mean?

As the word says it, it’s the footage in it’s RAW state, with no edits; the entire clip, with it’s shakiness, out of focuses, lack of color grading, in-camera audio, and most commonly, short clips between 10 to 30 seconds long each (So probably there’s around 200 short clips of your wedding day {depending on amount of coverage}).

What is a FOMO Edit then?

It’s a quick edit to make the RAW footage more enjoyable/viewable. It’s the entire day laid on a timeline together, cutting the rough parts (out of focus, slow/non-compelling/repeated scenes, long awkward silent moments, etc) with background music, quick color correction, and simple audio fix. So you can watch everything together with one click.

I’ve compiled a few samples for you to compare and make an educated decision

The idea with this video is for you to see the image and audio differences of each.
Both will have handheld camera movements, but harsh movements, out-of-focus moments, or repeated scenes will be cut out from the BTS Edit to keep the video entertaining, somewhat “short” (will depend on coverage) and all in one single video. Also we’ll select the best shots of each ceremony camera to create one single ceremony clip.

*Actual length of this BTS edit is 1 hour 43 minutes.

**Fast forward scenes are just so you don’t have to watch everything, but also to show you that there’s much more.

For Your Information

I do provide the RAW Footage to any of my couples if requested

*You will have to provide storage media (I can advice you) + shipping costs.

Frequently ASKED QUESTIONs

- WHAT’S THE COST OF EACH?

For my couples, RAW footage it’s free… almost. {You just buy your own storage media + shipping costs}. Delivered in a lower resolution (if you want it in 4K full resolution, you can purchase that for an extra cost)

BTS Edit pricing will depend on amount of coverage in your package. If you are interested just ask me and we’ll check it out.

- Which one is the right for me?

Well. Each couple has different expectations and needs.
Here you have some of the biggest questions/facts that might help you figure it out;

If you are not a computer geek, you’ll probably want everything in one single video (BTS Edit), instead of figuring out how to create a playlist with all the individual clips to watch all together seamlessly.

Do you mind the flat color RAW images produces?

Do you need the audio to be in good quality or you are good as is?

Would you prefer 2.5 hours of RAW footage or one edited 1.5 hours video? (*Actual length will depend on amount of coverage, but the ratio is to give an idea)

Do you think soundtrack helps keeping viewers attention or isn’t needed?

- CAN I EDIT THE RAW FOOTAGE MYSELF?

Yes and no.

Since I provide de footage at no extra cost, I do not provide editing rights with the footage to keep my brand’s quality standards.
So you would be able to have the files for personal storage, but not to edit or ask an editor to do it for you.
At least, not legally. You’ll need to sign a contract agreeing to these terms for you to receive the files.

Also, the free RAW files, are delivered at a lower resolution due to storage space and transfer time. If you would like to have the personal editing option, I do offer the editing rights along the full resolution 4K files for $850.

- WhAT IF I DON’T WANT a *2 hours long EDITED video?

I do also offer Documentary Edits (Doc Edits).
{Between 30 to 45 min. video}

Which will be a selection of THE BEST from the wedding day, but keeping the “Behind the Scenes” vibe, with almost full-day coverage, raw audio, and cinematic edit {Soundtrack, color correction + grade, stabilized footage}.

*P.s: Actual length of each BTS Edit and Doc Edits will depend in amount of coverage.

- SO WHAT IS A DOC EDIT or Documentary edit?

It’s basically a LONG highlight video {Usually between 30 to 45 min. video}.
For those that want to have as much footage from their wedding, but without the awkward, long, silent or slow moments of the day. Still having a good edited, cinematic, video in high quality that keeps them hooked.

*Actual length will depend on amount of coverage.
